Jiří Přibáň
Meet Jiří Přibáň, a Czech Professor of Law at Cardiff University, as well as the founding director of the Centre of Law and Society. Although he is most known for his research on the philosophy and sociology of law, his interests are not limited to the legal sphere. He has dedicated much of his time investigating the construction of national identity, along with how this relates to constitutional developments, not only in the Czech Republic, but within the wider Central European region as well. In 2013, he notably refused the offer of becoming one of the Czech constitutional judges, thus declining the president Miloš Zeman‘s nomination. His current research focuses on European Societal Constitutionalism, and how it relates to transnationalism and populism.
